North Cape Coastal Drive
The North Cape Coastal Drive has been dubbed, ‘the Canadian Oyster Coast’ – a title we earned in recognition of our world-famous Malpeque Oysters, which can be found in fine dining establishments, oyster bars, and kitchens across the world. But this theme goes beyond the renowned delicacies that have put us on the culinary map. It speaks to the abundance of fresh food experiences offered in our region, made possible by a hard-working industry backed by generations of families and long-standing traditions. The oyster culture has been part of the western P.E.I. life and economy since before the time of settlement, as the Mi’kmaq understood and capitalized on the value of oysters. Oysters have been eternally hailed as a precious gourmet delight by food lovers throughout the centuries, beginning with the Roman emperors who paid for them by their weight in gold.
It is with this rich history that the Oyster Coast has been chosen to host the First ever Prince Edward Island Oyster Conference November 13-15th, 2013 at the Beautiful Rodd Mill River Resort –which will be the backdrop to an educational two days of speaker presentations, panel discussions, industry, partner, supplier networking and great Island Entertainment.
From oyster farmers to marketers and eveyone in between, we are excited about bringing together the who’s who in the oyster business to discuss business.
We welcome industry, government and academia from across the country and south of the border to attend this valued event and participate in the program.
